What’s Happening Around the Farm

Oh Haay!

Oh Haay!

June 13, 2021 sandberglandandcattleco

To say we’ve been busy around the farm lately would be nothing short of an understatement. In the last month, we’ve welcomed the birth of almost 30 calves and put up first crop of hay. We’re definitely not complaining – the calves are strong and healthy and this is the first time we’ve put…

The Babies are Here – Calving 2021!

May 15, 2021 sandberglandandcattleco

Or should I say, the baby is here! The official start to our calving season (on paper anyway) should be May 15th. Well, this little fella decided to surprise his mom and show up a few days early….on Mother’s Day! All the soon-to-be first time mom’s are infatuated with him since he’s the only…

Spring Preparations -Gardens, and Chicks, oh my!

March 5, 2021 sandberglandandcattleco

It can be hard to convince yourself spring’s around the corner when the temps are cold and the days are short. However, short, bitterly cold days are perfect for planning for the spring/summer season ahead. Our calving season starts around May 15th, so once that date hits everything non-calf related gets pushed to the…

Goulash – A quick and easy version

February 15, 2021 sandberglandandcattleco

I will apologize in advance. I’m typically in a hurry when I cook so the pictures are subpar at best, however, I love a quick and easy weeknight throw together meal so I’m sharing anyway. The farm tends to be less work (from a time perspective anyway) in the winter since our main focus…

2020 Reflection – The Good, The Bad, and The Blessings

January 8, 2021 sandberglandandcattleco

Turns out, my Grandma was right. When we were little I remember her saying, “Don’t wish away your time as it goes faster the older you get.” At the time I thought maybe grandma was losing it a bit; time is time, it can’t go faster. But I get it now. Lately, I find…

Chicken Coop Construction

Chicken Coop Construction

November 2, 2020 sandberglandandcattleco

When I decided to get chickens, I knew I wanted the coop to be mobile. Having a farm full of beef cattle means you typically have a farm full of flies, so the idea of keeping the coop close to the cows to help defeat the fly population was definitely appealing. Design Phase I…

We Bought the Farm!

We Bought the Farm!

November 2, 2020 sandberglandandcattleco

People ask what made us want to start farming. Well, Andy and I dreamed of trading in city life for country living for quite sometime. The dream started in our teens (actually, I think at birth for me) when I introduced Andy to the idea of farm living soon after we started dating. Andy was already…

Best Beef We’ve had in a Long Time!

This was the best beef we have had in a very long time. We had hamburgers on the grill and stovetop that were tasty and juicy, also we used the beef and bone for soup which made the richest broth and the meat has always been so tender and fresh.

It is important to me to support a family farm that honors sustainability and a wholesome farming technique , is transparent, and is farm to table. I believe the product is healthier than mass produced meat.

The Best Beef We Ever Had Comes From Sandberg Land and Cattle

The best beef we have ever had comes from Sandberg Land and Cattle. We made the switch last year to buying a half of a cow, and we are so glad about our choice. We have many different cuts of meat, and each is fresh and delicious no matter which way we have prepared them. You can really taste the difference and tell it is grass-fed and high quality. Also the value of buying in bulk is a huge savings on amazing quality meat. Kelly and Andy were informative and provided such great guidance when we went through the process of buying our first cow share.

Aside from how delicious the beef is, we are even more proud to support a small, family run farm. The Sandberg family incorporates their strong values in all that they do and it is evident in the products they produce. They appreciate and take amazing care of their land and animals, they embody what is to be good stewards.

We can’t wait to keep cooking some delicious meals with the best grass fed beef and buy into another cow share.
